Week 1- National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day Collab: Meet Zoey, Monkey, & Coco

Article by Jin Wen Xie '24

To start off this month’s National Adopt a Shelter Pet collaboration between the DSJ and Heritage Humane Society is the introduction of three adorable animals available for adoption.

Zoey

This exploration loving Labrador Retriever/Mix is nine years old. To Zoey, age is but a number that doesn’t stop the pep in her step! She may have a few grey hairs on her face, but she is rocking it! Zoey’s hobbies include going on strolls and exploring the great outdoors! She is an experienced adventurous partner at Heritage Humane Society’s countless Fido Field Trips (HHS program that allows adoptable dogs to embark on exploration outings to manage kennel stress, and develop more experience with the community). When she isn’t occupying her fellow adventurer in the exploration of unknown areas, you can find Zoey snuggled next to her companion having a nice nap.

Monkey

Monkey is a sweet nine year old Maine Coon/Mix. Prior to his arrival at HHS, Monkey was a stray that was underweight and a bit timid around HHS staff members. However, with a little bit more time to settle, Monkey showed his cuddly and loving nature. After his medical exam, it was found that he was missing many teeth, of which can sometimes lead him to drool a little, which is absolutely adorable. Monkey is also FIV+, which just means that he’ll have to live as an indoor-only cat, an idea that he’ll greatly enjoy. So let the pampering and showering of love commence for this fluffy feline!

Coco

Coco is a four years old Pit Bull Terrier/Mix. Because Coco came to HHS as a stray, not much information on her background is available. However, HHS has observed that she may have an initial shy nature, and it may take some time for her trust to new people, the moment she does, you’ll be heaped with plenty of love and affection! This toy-loving cutie is full of personality and energy, especially if you play a game of fetch with her! In addition to her love of playing fetch, Coco is considered a good candidate to be a companion to another dog with proper instructions. Due to her shy nature, it is also recommended that Coco’s forever home include older kids.
